Stephen Paul Frownfelter, 71, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on May 28th, 2020. He was a loving son, born to Eileen and Loren Frownfelter and had one sister, Nancy (Frownfelter) Keeling. Steve was dedicated to his wife Katelyn (Yalotz) Frownfelter of 42 years and was the very proud father of Michelle Frownfelter Waters (Brett Waters), Dawn Frownfelter and Jared Frownfelter (Kristie Frownfelter), and loving grandfather to Brady, Bryce and Carson Waters and Ava Frownfelter.
Steve was originally from the San Louis Valley, then moved to Pueblo after graduating college where he was employed at Big John’s Landscaping. In 1983 he took a position with C&C Sand in Colorado Springs where he and his family resided until 2000. Steve was a devoted and attentive husband, father and grandfather, in spite of the hours demanded by his work. His kindness, patience, humility and integrity set the example for our family, and his sense of humor filled our home with joy and laughter.
Steve coached Colorado Springs Pikes Peak Baseball until his son entered Doherty high school, where he actively supported the Doherty Spartan baseball team. During the 90’s Steve worked as a line manager for Apple Computers, later purchased by CSI, then transferred to similar work in Fort Collins in 2000. Steve operated ClearBrook Waterscapes with his son Jared, working out of his home in Ault where he and Katelyn enjoyed several years before Katelyn’s work moved them to the Denver metro area.
Steve exhibited a tireless strength of character in his work and personal life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who held great regard for and found immense joy in the wonder of the outdoors and the wildlife that reside there. He held himself and others to the highest ethics of sportsmanship. His passion for nature was exceeded only by his love for his family. His endurance and inner strength served him well throughout a lifetime of hard work, caring and providing for his family, the demands of home ownership – always ensuring a beautiful yard and garden – and helped him to make the most of his latter, more difficult years.
Throughout all, Steve’s kind nature never faltered. His gentleness, thoughtfulness, humility and love for his family remained at the forefront until the end. His presence will be missed, but all he shared of himself will remain forever with us.
In honor of Steve's kind and generous nature and his belief in paying it forward, in lieu of flowers, please reach out and share what you can with someone in need.
