Luci was born on a farm north of Buklin, Kansas to Ruth and Willard Sappenfield. Luci grew up in Kansas and married and had three sons, John, Rod and Kenneth. She later relocated to the Denver area where she worked in a dentist office and met and married her husband Bob Ross. Luci and Bob were very active in many fraternal organizations, Elks, VFW, Eagles, Laradon Hall, where they both held offices and gave of their time to help those organizations and the many charities they support. She and Bob also enjoyed many years of camping with friends from these organizations.
Luci suffered from a lung disease, Bronchiectasis, even after lung surgery many years ago. She also had macular degeneration, destroying her eye sight quite significantly in the past few years. She never let any of this get her down, even when caring for Bob in his failing health years. She was a devout Christian and prayed for and accepted God's help in many trying situations. Even in her final days under Hospice care, she asked the nurses to tell us, "Tell them not to worry about me, everything will be ok!"
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Willard, Sister Letha Sappenfield/Vieux, her beloved husband Bob and son Kenneth Calhoun. She is survived by sons, John and Rod Calhoun, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-son Dale Ross, step grand-daughter Lindsay, niece Carmen Salazar, family friend Sherry Flair and many, many friends in the Denver/Aurora area. No services will be held. Luci will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan with her husband Bob.
Luci, we loved you and will miss dearly ! ! !
