He married Rene (Jones) on December 30, 1950. He had been drafted earlier in December and was stationed at Camp Atterbury in Indiana. They were in Indianapolis area until his discharge in 1953. They moved back to Denver and Bill went to work for package delivery. During those years, he learned street names and order, both letter and number streets, and he could give you directions to any certain place in Denver up to his passing. In 1957 he went to work at Mountain Bell and retired in 1987. After that came several “after retirement” jobs, and he fully retired in 2022.
Bill made his choice to serve God as an early teenager and was true to that choice to the very end. He loved his family, fellowship with friends and having an open home where all were welcome. Many soldiers stationed at Fitzsimmons through the years found refuge in the Hartman home.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law (Elen & Gordon Johnson), brother-in-law (Arvey Snow), sister-in-law (Sandra Jones), grandson (Justin Hartman).
Bill is survived by his children: Roger (Ava), Kevin (Karen) and Lori (Carl) Martin; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, sister (Helen Jean Snow), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
