Carlo Marinelli was born February 28, 1939 in Vinchiaturo Italy. His parents were Antonio and Michelina Marinelli. He was the middle child of three boys, his brothers Benny and Carmen. In November 1953, at the age of 14 he arrived in New York on his way to immigrate to Canada with his Family. The family settled in Toronto where he met his beloved wife April.
Carlo and April met in 1958 at the Palais Royale Ballroom Dance Hall. While trying to avoid another man April bumped into Carlo and he led her to the Dance floor. They fell deeply in love and were married May 14, 1960.
Together they had three children Michelina, Vivian and Anthony. Carlo was a loving and involved father, grandfather and husband. He was a hard working man sometimes working two jobs to provide for his family. He was always there for his children, whenever they needed him, no matter what.
Over time the family grew to include two son in-laws David and Steven and daughter in-law Ruth.
Carlo treasured time spent with his six grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Ashtin, Bethany, Brooke, Mariah, and his great granddaughter Ebony who he affectionately nicknamed Tornado. He was greatly cherished by each of them. They loved to listen to his stories of where he grew up and events of his life.
He enjoyed the outdoors and many hobbies. Some of his favourite pastimes were bowling, golf, working in the garden and on his home. He remained active all his life, working as a tile setter right up to the time he became ill and continued to play golf until a month before his death, winning his last game.
Carlo was humble, kind, generous, patient and respectful toward everyone he knew, extending his help and hospitality to friends, family and anyone in need even those he had just met. He made numerous friends by opening his home to many needing accommodations over the years. He had an extraordinary sense of humor, making us smile even during his last few days. For these and other fine qualities he will be dearly missed.
His family and friends eagerly await God’s promise to “wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”- Revelation 21:4.
We are comforted by the Bible’s promise where Jesus said “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life”- John 5:28 & 29
Carlo’s family are grateful to have had him in their lives and thank all who sympathize with them in their loss. We look forward to welcoming him back in Paradise on Earth when “no resident will say: “I am sick”.”- Isaiah 33:24.
