It’s so hard to say goodbye to Lynne - someone loved so much by so many people. A forever loved wife and soulmate, cherished mom / mother-in-law, adored Nana, admired sister / sister-in-law, trusted aunt, valued colleague and dear friend. We will always carry her beautiful memories in our hearts.
Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Tony; children: Paul (Rachel), Alex (Jessica), and Eric (Paz); grandchildren: Cameron, Harper, Quinn, Audrey, and Indigo; and brothers: Steve, Mark, and Tom. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Emma Dobronyi.
An avid reader, Lynne always had a love of words and language. She was the inspiration and a proud member of the family book club. She inherited a love of cryptic crosswords from her parents and passed that love down to the next generation.
In her career as a child psychologist in the York Catholic District School Board, Lynne always kept the needs of the kids first in her mind and especially loved her interactions with them. She was knowledgeable, professional, and willing to adapt her perspectives over time. Her career brought her personal satisfaction, but also improved the lives of countless families in her community.
Lynne always had the well-being of others in mind, and lived her life with openness and non-judgment. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel not just tolerated, but fully embraced and celebrated.
There was nothing more precious to Lynne than her family. She was so very proud of her 3 boys who benefited greatly from her loving kindness and gentle guidance in raising them. She truly loved the daughter-in-laws that they brought into her life as daughters. And all 5 wonderful grandchildren were the joys of her life. Lynne will be missed by us all but especially the little ones as she had so much more enjoyment in her to share with them as they grew. We will all make sure she lives on in them through our memories.
A Celebration of her great Life is being planned for Wednesday December 21, 2022 between 2 pm - 5 pm. Location is:
Oakview Terrace
13256 Leslie St.
Richmond Hill ON

In lieu of flowers, donations would be graciously received by two of the organizations that provided passionate care for Lynne through her cancer journey and into her final days.
Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket
Stronach Regional Cancer Center
Alternatively, a donation to any charity that you feel reflects Lynne’s compassionate approach to life, we know she would have also greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share the charity’s name in your comments to the family if you wish.
Even in her final days, Lynne was able to share her thoughts on paper. The following poem was written by her while in her hospice bed.
Garden's Peace
A Poem by Lynne Hoevenaars - November 14, 2022
There’s a Helen Lucas poppy painting on my wall.
Vibrant, stark and at the peak of its beauty.
There’s a garden outside my glass door.
A summertime in November in my mind.
There’s a place of love and peace in my heart
That opens like a blossom and catches in my throat.
Shalom. Shalom. Shalom.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Hoevenaars family.
