Cole David Promane

It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious son Cole Promane at age 30. Cole passed away suddenly at home in Aurora on May 9, 2022. Born July 28, 1991 at York County Hospital in Newmarket (now Southlake Regional Health Centre), Cole was raised in Aurora and attended Lester B. Pearson Public School (French Immersion) and Aurora High School. Also, he completed his high school diploma at Huron Heights Secondary School Arts Program in Newmarket where he focused on honing his acting skills.

As a child, Cole had unlimited energy! Most nights he was awake late and arose early, and almost never was he grumpy or bad-tempered. Always happy, he made everyone around him feel the same. He wanted to try many extra-curricular activities, and so he became very involved in the arts and in organized sports, including drama and acting in local productions and high school productions, acting lessons, summer arts camps, singing, piano, bass clarinet in band at Aurora High, electric bass, soccer, hockey, baseball, skateboarding, snowboarding, golf, swimming and tennis. These many activities formed the person he became. Because of his happy, friendly personality, he formed many, many friendships at school, and spent countless hours playing games of all sorts and swimming in the backyard pool on Mark Street.

As he completed high school, it became clear that his passion was acting and drama, subsequently enrolling in the Acting For Film and Television program at Humber College in Toronto in 2010. Again, his friendly and good-humoured personality helped him to thrive. Upon graduation, he became involved in the Toronto acting community, with a number of notable performances including an appearance on the popular CBC comedy show “The Ron James Show”, and many voiceover performances on animated shows, including 6 episodes of “Doki Adventures” and 52 episodes as the voice of Jami the Assembler on “The 99”. Like many actors, Cole supplemented his acting career, by working as a server in many restaurants, including Grazie, Burger Cellar and Jack Astor's, where he formed many more lasting relationships. Simultaneously, his passion for sports came to the forefront. On his own, he created a weekly Youtube show called “The Cole Line”, a sports talk show that he wrote, hosted, filmed and edited.

He decided to combine his acting background and his love of sports by enrolling in the prestigious two year program at The College of Sports Media in Toronto in the fall of 2017. Cole worked extremely hard during this time by attending class by day, working at Jack Astor's by night, and interning in the early mornings at 680 News and TSN The Sports Network. He started a sports podcast with two classmates entitled “Three The North”.

He graduated at the top of his class and immediately accepted a position at TSN working on the Jay and Dan show, Canada’s most popular sports program. Still, his on-camera aspirations led him to Thunder Bay to be a TV anchor and reporter on CKPR TV in 2020. His sense of adventure led him to Terrace BC in 2021 again as TV and radio anchor and reporter on CFTK.

In his spare time, Cole loved to play his guitar and sing, and follow his favourite sports teams, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He attended many games with his friends and with his Dad, including a Florida trip to attend two Leafs games there with his Dad. Cole became an excellent golfer, and played as often as he could.

We deeply miss our precious boy, who so greatly enriched our lives and brought joy to everyone he met. Cole is survived by his parents and step-parents, Brita Promane and Don Nelson, Mark Promane and Kimberly Promane. Loved and missed by stepbrother Paolo DeLuca, wife Alessia Deluca and special brother Kevin Pattison. Beloved by his step-grandparents; forever in the hearts of all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grandparents Gunilla and David Husband (Mommo and Grandfather), Joan and Norman Promane (Nanna and Pops) .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CAMH, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Cole’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Pkwy S, Aurora. Reflections will begin at 2pm.
