Mr. Douglas George Harris

HARRIS, Douglas George - October 3, 1947 - December 1, 2014 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doug at the age of 67. He passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, surrounded by his loving family. Son to the late Edward and Mary; beloved husband of 43 years to Heather; loving and proud father to Shaun (Julie), Teresa (Paul), Warren and Adam (Cindy); cherished granddad of Jack, Emma, Ryan, Reid, Kaitlyn, Juliette and Chloe; brother of Roger and the late Craig. Doug was an influential Insurance Underwriter and Surety Broker who helped pioneer new bond wordings and surety products. He was well respected in the industry and believed in building long term relationships, which he cherished. He will always be remembered by family, friends and colleagues. Doug lived his life believing "If it isn't broke, don't fix it"; "if you want it, buy it"; and above all else "family is the most important thing to me". Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Monday December 8th from 5-9pm at King's Riding Golf Club, 14700 Bathurst Street, King City, Ont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre or a charity of choice.
