Frank was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and great friend to many. He leaves behind his wife Theresa (Barron), daughter Reaghan and her husband Glenn Fortin, son Keith and his wife Tina, his sister Cathy (Wally) and brother Bill (Amy). He was an amazing and proud Grandpa and Papa Joe and will be missed dearly by his four grandchildren – Connor (aka Conker), Avery (aka Averary), Zachary (aka Stinky) and Elijah (aka Smelly).
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Helen, and by his brother Robert “Bob”.
Frank was the ultimate jokester and teaser and took no greater in pleasure in life (aside from the occasional par) than making people howl with laughter and sharing jokes with family and friends. His continual optimism and good nature made everyone around him feel happy and at ease. Frank was immensely proud of each and every accomplishment of his children and grandchildren. Each step in their lives brought a huge smile to his face. Whether it was a great mark in school, a graduation, a new job, a new house, a new cottage, a dance, gymnastics or skating competition – or a grandchild’s first words and first steps – he was the ultimate cheerleader and shared his pride with anyone who would listen.
Frank’s other great passion in life was his golf. Between May and September, his mood varied in direct relation to his latest round. There was no better golf partner than Frank and he forged lifelong memories and friendships at Oakfield, Bear Creek and Highland Gate.
Frank’s life took him to many parts of Canada and at each stop along the way, he made great friends; from Ajax to Regina, from Swift Current to Oakfield, from Barrie to Aurora, many are saddened by his sudden passing.
The best tribute to Frank will be to think often of his laugh and charming wit, to take time to look on the bright side of life and to cherish each moment spent with family and friends.
A sincere and heartfelt thank you are extended to Dr. Rahim and the Medical Oncology team at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Frank was also so fortunate in the last week to have the most compassionate and incredible care from the doctors and nurses of MACU and ICU at Southlake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s name to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation (www.southlakefoundation.ca) or the charity of your choice.
