I have so many special memories of Uncle Marty during the years at Cooper Lake where he welcomed us with such warmth and generosity.  He was so jovial and always ready with a memorable story or joke.  Some of my best memories are of sitting around a fire listening to Uncle Marty recount another larger-than-life story.  I am sorry to have missed the chance to celebrate his life, we will miss him dearly.

Very sad to hear of Martyn's passing.   We were neighbors for 12 years, and enjoyed many conversations on his back deck.  Martyn was quick and witty!  Martyn was there to help when needed.

I am so sad to hear of my cousin Martyn's death !  He grew up and went to school with my two older brothers, Paul and Denis and whenever they were together there were always so many stories and memories to relate accompanied by lots of laughter . When I think of Martyn I hear that infectious laugh. I also think of family because family was always of prime importance to him and he always kept me up to date with family news . I'm so happy my three children were able to meet Martyn at weddings and a graduation a few years ago . He will certainly live on in the minds and hearts of his family . Big-hearted, full of merriment and handsome, Uncle Marty brought sparkle to every family gathering. Repose en paix, mon cher oncle.

I am writing on behalf of the Bloomfield family. I know the late Dr. Robert and Maureen Bloomfield were extremely close with Marty. Many special memories have been recounted these past few days since we heard the sad news. I had the pleasure of meeting Marty as well. He is remembered by all of us as a good man; full of life and humour. Our condolences to the entire clan during this sad time. May his memory be a blessing.

It is with sadness that I learned of Marty's passing. Marty was like a member of our family, an energetic fun guy with a huge heart. Who could forget him driving his open Jeep along the Beaches  of Georgian Bay!
He and my brother Bruce were always up to mischief their prime achievement our wedding and decorating our apartment while on our honeymoon. Marty brings wonderful life-long memories.
Thankfully he has been relieved from deteriorating health.

I have a lifetime of fond memories of boisterous fun with Uncle Marty:  his laughter and pranks and generosity.   We had such goodtimes outdoors on the pond on Jane Street and at Cooper Lake.  I regret that I'll miss the gathering of family and friends to celebrate Marty's life.  He was very dear to us.

Uncle Marty was my dad's all time longest standing and very best friend.  They became best buddies in high school at UCC and called each other "Arch" for the rest of their lives.  My parents and the Hedges had wonderful holidays and many many special times together, always involving great food and drink, endless laughs and loving merriment.  When I told Marty my dad was really ill, two years ago, he wept like a child.  Marty was always generous, fun and kind to my brother Tom and me.  I have very fond memories of great summer and winter visits to the Hedges' beautiful farm on Jane Street.  Marty had a wicked sense of humour but always made you feel loved and special. I was so saddened to hear about Marty. As you know my parents and Pat and Marty were such close friends for so many years. They were such a part of my life and my sisters lives as well. Marty could always find the humour in anything and always made us laugh.  Such wonderful memories.
