Gail died peacefully September 16, 2015, at the age of 59, with family by her side after a 3 year battle with cancer.
Gail is survived by her brother John (Deni) and sister Gillian MacPherson (Bruce). She was Super Aunt Gail to Kaili, Greg, Lindsay and Sarah. She is predeceased by parents Jim and Joan Cashin.
Gail led a fascinating and unorthodox life full of travels, managing to visit 85+ countries in her life, including a 3 year trans-African adventure. She was an accountant by training (CMA). For 20+ years Gail combined her love of travel with her career, working for international aid organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She enjoyed living in and exploring the countries where she lived and worked, such as Afghanistan, Bosnia, Indonesia and Thailand. Gail had a unique ability to touch people in a special way and leave a lasting impression. She is described as a mentor, teacher and shining star by her extended family at IRC.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation are appreciated. A celebration of her life will be held September 26th in Aurora, Ont.
