George Thomas Ashby of Aurora passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 23, 2024. George was in his 81st year. He was passionate in telling everyone what “A Wonderful Life” he had lived. He shared his acquired expertise in hockey and baseball through his coaching. He demonstrated his professionalism and wisdom in his outstanding career with Consumer’s Gas for over thirty years. But his true love and pride was always his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Pat (Walls) and loving sons, Kevin (Michelle) and Bryan (Suzanne). He is the beloved grandfather to Adam, Ethan, Sierra and Robyn. George will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his relatives and very close friends.
“To seek out where loved ones may need your help. To never discredit how much the little things matter. To celebrate all the joy that comes from other people’s successes. To enjoy the simple things in life, like the sun on your skin or a freshly baked cherry pie. To be curious about the world and work hard to contribute to it. To not take oneself too seriously. To crack jokes and be goofy. To be fully present right where you are, with the great people you’re with. To lead an honest, full life. To continuously do good wherever you can, and always choose laughter.” The Way of George Ashby.
A memorial visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 12 noon until time of the Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of George would be greatly accepted.
