'Piep’ Grietje van Fraassen September 26, 1926 - September 3, 2020

On September 3rd, ‘Piep’ Grietje van Fraassen passed away peacefully with her children holding her hands and telling her she was deeply loved. She was in her 94th year.

Piep, nicknamed as such in the ‘50’s by her late husband Adriaan, was an inspiration to all who met her. She saw the world through rose-coloured glasses, bringing that optimism into every conversation and every gathering, no matter what was happening in the world at the time.

Piep was treasured by her children, Mark (Mary), Georgina (Larry), Doug (Theresa), and Louise (Paul), as well as her grandchildren Kate (Kevin), Adrian, Amanda (Christophe), Jay, Jamie, Brian, Eric (Daniela), Richard, Sydney, Rachel, Luke, and Rebecca, and great-grandchildren, Emanuel and Renaud.

Piep was predeceased by her husband Adriaan, son Mark, son-in-law Blair, and her brother and sisters in Holland.

Piep was born in Den Haag Holland on September 26, 1926, met Adriaan post-war at university, married, and immigrated to Canada in 1953. She loved her life in Canada moving many times throughout Ontario following her forester husband and finally settled in Aurora in 1977.

If you asked her what she would say about her life, it was full and beautiful, and wonderful, and kind and fun. It is an incredible legacy for those of us on this side of life.

My deepest condolences to all of you, Piep's wonderful family.
I had the pleasure of sitting next to her for all the years we sang our hearts out together in the Evergreen choir, and always enjoyed her amazing happiness and beautiful smile. Our friendship was further deepened by our love of painting, and Piep would pick me up to go to Edy's for lots of fun and laughter. She would always whistle all the way back! I am so grateful for all that she taught me about life and living it to the fullest, and I shall miss her love and hugs very much.

On behalf of Dinwoodie/Bridgeford families
We send our sincere condolences to your family.
I know "Piep' was a wonderful neighbour of Pauline&Albert ,She & Van would often drop by whenever something was going on at the house even if just to say hello.I (Vivienne) remember helping her out with one of her annual garage sales on her driveway for SMA what a fun day we shared.
Piep will always be remembered by our families and never forgotten.

I was so saddened to hear about Piep's passing. She was such a lovely and sweet person, always with a smile and kind word. I knew Piep from the Evergreen choir where we both sang. She was always so proud that her family would come to hear and support her at our concerts.
Rest in peace sweet lady.

Piep was a valued member of the ASA Evergreen Choir. I remember her smile and her sense of humour. She always appeared to be so happy. We missed her in the choir when she felt she could no longer contribute, but she was always remembered.
