TOMLIN, JAMES ANDREW – with tremendous love and sadness we announce Jim’s unexpected death on October 22, 2013 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Jim was born March 20, 1943 in Toronto, ON and resided in Aurora, ON for the past 34 years. Known by all for his determination and work ethic, he started, owned and operated his own custom packaging company, Tomlin Packagers Inc., for the past 28 years. He was known by various names: Jim, Jimmy, Dad and Pop, the last being music to his ears. His biggest source of pride was his family for whom he would do anything. From coaching his children’s T-ball and hockey teams years ago, to fixing anything in their homes and yards as adults, to never missing a single soccer game of his two granddaughters, Jim was happiest when tending to his family. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Elaine (nee Bell), daughter Jennifer (Ryan), granddaughters, Sarah and Rachel and son, Mark. Predeceased by his father Fred and mother Lela (Dellow), he is also survived by his sister Pat Little (Gord) and brother Gerry (Gina).
We would like to give a special thanks to Drs. George Christakis and Eric Cohen for their dedication to his unique case, and to Dr. Jeffrey Pang (and colleagues) for their valiant resuscitation efforts.
Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421 on Monday October 28, 2013 from 7-9pm. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2013 at 1pm with visitation starting at 12pm. Reception to follow.
We ask that donations honouring Jim be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
