John William Pierson

April 12, 1927January 22, 2014

Peacefully, passed away on January 22nd, 2014, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, at the age of 86 with family by his side. Loving husband for 59 years to Margaret Anne (Torgis) Beloved father of Catherine (Randy) Nealon, John (Andrea) Pierson, Laurie (Mark) Pettes. Fondly remembered by his sister Elinore (Joe) Guest, sister-in-law Doris Pierson and pre-deceased by his brother Gord. Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Michael, Katie, Brittany and David.

Jack was extremely proud of being a World War II veteran and was a keen war historian. He worked for 40 years at General Motors and another 10 years working for his son’s company. When he finally retired, he enjoyed building his cottage, spending time with his grandchildren and flying his remote control airplanes on Bald Lake in the Kawartha’s. Jack was a founding and life time member of the Oshawa Ski Club and spent many fun filled days skiing with his family and friends. He travelled, skied and toured around the world with his best friend Margaret.

Jack will be dearly missed by family, friends, nieces and nephews for his candid sense of humour and his inquisitive mind. A private memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank the Hollandview Trail staff for all of their support and friendship.

Jack was a friend of my grandparents, Victor and Solvig Buckingham. My grandmother currently lives at Hollandview Trail, and when we visit her it was always a pleasure to see Jack as well. Every time, he would take my hand and ask if I was married yet. I'm saddened to learn of his passing. Sending my condolences to Margaret and their family.

Marg.,Cathy,John,&Laurie and families : Good friend to Bob and Ruth especially on Chandos . They are probably talking of those shared moments . The question is : if your dad is named John why did he always get Jack ? I trust the memories you have will be comfort to share in this time of loss . Thinking of you all . Peace be with you .
