

"Jack" passed away peacefully , on March 8, 2014, in his 91st year, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband to Jean for 66 years, and loving father to John (Doreen), Robert (Rachel), Barry (Gail), Barbara (Andy), and Janice (Graeme). Proud "grandpa" to thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is survived also by sister Catherine Dysart, and brother Douglas (Bernice) Russell.
Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery, and participated in the Normandy invasion. After the war, he was employed by B/A Oil, which developed into a fulfilling career with Gulf Oil Canada. Upon retiring in 1986, he and Jean moved from Scarborough to Aurora, where they were introduced to lawn bowling and pursued their love of travel. Jack will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at Thompson Funeral Home Aurora, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, on Thursday March 13, 7-9 pm.
Funeral service on Friday March 14, at 11:00 am, with reception to follow.
