I was so sorry to hear of John's passing, my condolences to his family. John was always larger than life when I was a young child. I will always remember John's booming voice when he would visit our home via the back door "Hellooooo, is anyone home"; the animated conversations over lunch; the competitive baseball game/water balloon toss during the Kiwanis picnics; his "rustic" cottage in the 70's and many hours spent strategizing with my Dad during the campaigning years.

Sadly, the impending storm prevented my parents, Bryan and Doreen and I from joining everyone today. We will raise our glasses and toast to a life well spent. Rest in peace John.

I had the pleasure of working closely with John when I was the MPP for York North and he was Mayor of Aurora. I always enjoyed working with him. He had such a strong passion for his community and never hesitated to speak on its behalf. He is sadly missed.

We have many fond memories of "Uncle" John. He was a great neighbour but more importantly a wonderful friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. They should take comfort in knowing just how many lives John touched over the years. He will not soon be forgotten. The Cocking Family.
