Leo Raafael Leivo

Leo Raafael Leivo was born in South Porcupine, ON nearly eighty years ago. He passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, January 2nd. Leo met and later married Anneli Kinnunen in June of 1967. They had just celebrated their golden anniversary last summer. He was a mechanic by trade and even owned his own garage in the 1960s before starting work at Loblaws where he worked until he retired in 2003. Leo’s best days were spent in the boat fishing. Leo was always quick to help and loved nothing more than to feed people. Leo and Anneli raised their four children Kari (Kat), Maiju (Ian), Leea (Bryan) and Martti (Amanda) at Lake Wilcox. Leo is the beloved Pappa of Tamara (Mike), Joshua, Katrina, Alek, Mika, Tiia, Taisto, Kiirsti and Meghan. He was also a much loved and respected father-in-law to Lee, Craig, Bernard and Tracy. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Yrjo and Signe Leivo, his brother Paul Johnson and his father-in-law Hugo Kinnunen. He is survived by his mother-in-law Salme, his brother Martti (Ene), many nieces and nephews and countless friends and family in Canada and Finland. Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora 905-7275421 on Friday January 5 from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 6 at 11am in the chapel.
