The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Margaret, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Greenock Scotland, Margaret peacefully passed away with her loving family at her side on Wednesday January 22, 2025, she was 80 years old.
Loving wife of Paul, her devoted husband of 56 years. Beloved mother of Charlene (Chuck) and Kirsten (Bruce). Proud mormor of Dain, Brady and Easton. Survived by her sister Ellen (Duncan) and twin sister Morag (John) and predeceased by parents William and Ella. Cherished by her many nieces, nephews and extended family in Scotland and Denmark, as well as many life-long friends, whom Margaret considered family.
Whether at their home in Aurora, at the cottage on Lake Muskoka or in Delray Beach, Florida friends and family were always welcomed. No one ever turned down an invitation to Paul and Margaret’s. One was guaranteed a phenomenal meal, great company, free flowing wine, and many laughs. Margaret always ensured that every table, place setting and meal was executed to perfection, which often provided bonus entertainment for all as Margaret and Paul bantered in the kitchen. From their annual Christmas Tree Cutting Ceremonies, their famous Christmas Eve dinners, to their Robbie Burns Suppers and unforgettable Danish dinners, they brought people together and made even the simplest moments unforgettable.
Paul was her rock, and Margaret was truly his everything. She was the foundation of stability and love that allowed Paul to thrive. In every success he achieved, Margaret’s presence was felt and her support was woven into every triumph. Margaret found her deepest sense of safety and comfort in the simple act of holding Paul’s hand, a touch that spoke of trust, partnership and a lifetime of shared moments.
Her daughters will remember her as their guiding light, their confidante and their strongest advocate. She taught them the value of resilience, kindness and unconditional love that will continue to shape their lives.
It is known by family and friends that Ronnie is very busy now making sure Margaret and Dorothy’s wine glasses are never empty!
Margaret’s life will be celebrated by family and close friends at a gathering in the Spring of 2025.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mulhern and the incredible and caring staff at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, who cared for Margaret in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice https://www.myhospice.ca/donate
