Passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2016, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, at the age of 83 with her family by her side. Loving wife to the late John William Pierson. Beloved mother of Catherine (Randy) Nealon, John (Andrea) Pierson, Laurie (Mark) Pettes. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Elinore (late Joe) Guest, sister-in-law Doris (late Gord) Pierson, sister-in-law Marion Torgis and pre-deceased by her brother Lawrence Torgis. Cherished grandmother of Tyler, Michael, Katie, Brittany and David. Her special friends Natalie Affolter and Irene Tymciw will always keep memories of Margaret close to their hearts.
Margaret was a passionate and dedicated teacher for many years at the Durham Board of Education and was involved in extracurricular activities such as operettas, outdoor excursions and art. Once she retired she transferred her love of music, art and the outdoors to her grandchildren through piano lessons, art projects and fishing at the cottage. Margaret loved her family and was extremely proud of her five grandchildren and spent many hours cheering them on at soccer games, hockey games and track events. Margaret enjoyed numerous happy years at their cottage on Bald Lake in the Kawartha's and spent many fun filled days with her family and friends travelling, skiing and touring around the world with Jack.
Margaret will be dearly missed by family and friends and will be remembered for her kindness, support and a smile that would light up the room. A private memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory to the Alzheimer’s Society. The family would like to thank the Southlake Village staff for all of their support and friendship.
