Maria was born on February 11, 1951 in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Married to José Almeida on August 23rd, 1972 and embarked on a journey to Canada on February 11, 1973 to start a family and build a wonderful life.
She leaves behind her husband José and their children Peter (Nadia) and Sophie along with grandchild Leo and her brothers Jose and Manuel Arruda.
Maria is an inspiration of hard work, laughter, compassion and love and will forever be missed by all that had the honour of knowing her. We now look up to heaven and feel her love shine down on us, today and everyday.
A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15347 Yonge Street, Aurora, ON L4G 1N7.
