I have some warm memories of my Aunt Marie. She was a big part of my younger years having lived only two doors down. I don’t ever remember a time that she wasn’t there when I showed up to play with my cousins.. the door was always open, and it was a given that I could come and go as I pleased. Many days were spent under her watchful eye, be it on Penwick or at the cottage. 

As the years went by, we managed to lose touch, but that didn’t stop her from sending sweet notes and small tokens to my daughter, Zoé, whom she had never met. It was a simple gesture but so very thoughtful and kind. Always such a sweet surprise when a card arrived in the mail, and it meant so much to both of us.  

To all the family, please accept our sincere condolences, and to Leanne, Kelly, Laurie and Joanie, please know you are in my thoughts and sending you big hugs.

I’ve been reflecting on all the memories over the years. The first one was Marie‘s memory of her sister Dot bringing me home from the hospital in a butcher’s basket. We grew up together, got married and had kids together. Along with Bill and Kent we shared so many good times and ‘firsts’. Our kids’ first steps, the first day of school every September, warm summer days at the cottage, cool nights around a fire pit, road trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. Then as our kids grew, we shared all their milestones - graduations, weddings, then their babies, making us grandparents, and now  we have great grandchildren. We lived next-door to each other for many years, both in the city and in Richmond Hill, sharing so many good times including majorettes, parades, baseball games. the list is endless. Of late, it had turned to text messages and phone calls that would end with Marie saying “you’re like my sister” which was especially touching since she had lost all her sisters in recent years. We always ended by saying “luv ya”. So until we meet again, “I luv ya” …..

I miss you Mom, I am your oldest the one that made you a Mom. I have so many memories of you flooding my mind. Christmas traditions like going to the Toronto Santa Claus parades, Eaton’s to see the animated Christmas displays and decorating the biggest, fattest tree that Dad could find. We always loved our trips to the nursery looking at all the flowers especially one of your favourites, ‘Bleeding hearts.’
I was so happy you got to meet your great-granddaughter Kinley Marie. Lindsay was so proud that your name was carried on for the fourth generation. You adored all your grandkids and great-grandkids and they knew it. You made all of them feel so special and were so proud of all their accomplishments. 
It wasn’t always easy raising four daughters but  somehow you made it look like it was.
I found the tin the other day at the house the one you collected all those King George pennies in. I am so glad you forgave me for stealing and then emptying them all into my little purse so I could walk up to Kresge’s to buy you all those special treasures with your own money for Mother’s  Day.  
Give hugs to Dad for me and tell him I hear him talking to me through the birds. 
Miss you every minute, and thanks for being such a great Mom. I hope we made you proud. Keep a watch over us, we will be good just like we promised.

My condolences to Joannie, Laurie, Kelly, Leanne and your families. I had the privilege of sharing an evening of dinner and casino this past Dec 2023 with Mrs Hamilton, Joannie, Laurie, Kelly & Leanne. We had some good laughs and it was a very fun evening. Your mom will be dearly missed and I hope thinking of memories like this one will bring you comfort.  Warm Hugs Miana xo

Sending love and deep condolences to Joni, Laurie, Kelly, Leanne and families. Your mom was always so gracious and kind to me when I visited with Joni. She will be sorrowful missed.

My Mom when I was little would patiently sit for hours and hours to help me with my multiplication skills, she made a special Kool-aid drink or as she called it, “Freshie” drink for baton making sure of course there was always less sugar. Every year she tried so hard to get me interested in flowers but try as she might me, bugs and dirt just didn’t go together. When it came to our visits to the casino one of which us four girls did recently with her in December, we all laughed when she kept hitting us up for more $20’s.
In the past at this particular time of year Mom and I would be excited for the opening of the CNE where we would meet up with Vi and spin the wheel on ‘Food day’ all in hopes of winning a prize and to carry on our tradition. 
There are not enough words to express how much she was loved and how she will be missed. I hope she is now free from pain flying like a hummingbird reunited with Dad. 

Gods garden must be beautiful he only takes the best.

Thank you Marie for all the great memories. The Friday nights you coming over for a Baileys Irish Cream. Or being with us for holiday together up at Mont Tremblant. Visiting you up at the cottage was always a fun time. But being the best neighbours was the greatest gift to us Engels. Your friendship, company  and good times together will never be forgotten. You will be sorely missed by Hans, myself , Patrick and Susanne. Love Erna Engel

So many Great memories. Many three hour trips to the cottage that turned into four hours or more cause they loved to shop. So many wonderful times at the cottage good food, good music, and many wonderful friends,family and  clean fresh air. Twas a place of beauty. Our long term memories were real good and we loved talking about olden days. She was an amazing cook she would say I can`t cook as good as your Mom and I would say are you kidding? She spoiled me way too much. I don`t know where she got the energy but she was always looking after her Grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Dear Joan, Laura, Kelly and Leanne
We are truly sorry to hear about Aunt Marie’s passing, but we certainly have some wonderful memories out at the cottage, and when u lived in Toronto beside cousin Diane, and Aunt Flo was down that huge hill than eventually u guy’s moved out of the city lights and up north were we were too…the great white north lol back than it was …
She is now up with the gang of them having a cup of Red Rose Tea and having a yarn about old times and we miss them all so very very much everything in life changes and unfortunately it’s not always the way we’d like it…
I know I’m also going to miss her Birthday cards she would sent..
Just remember I’m thinking about you guy’s my arms are around you all in a big hug and  kisses all the way from NL unfortunately I won’t be able to be at the celebration of life for Aunt Marie, but in heart I’ll be there  with you all ..

Lots of great memories. Countless summers spent at the cottage on Georgian Bay with Grandma were some of my favorite. Card games of 31 where she would often win, amazing bingo nights and waking up to the smell of her famous french toast in the morning. 
Cheering on the leafs together and saying "this is our year" many, many times. Our shared love for Under Armour and making sure I was always well stocked. 
Taking the ferry over to centre island for the day and visiting the CNE together. Lots of great memories.

So many memories with Grandma Hamilton where do I begin. From spending summers at the cottage on Georgian Bay playing bingo, painting rocks, eating your famous french toast and grilled cheeses, making forts in your backyard, colouring and drawing pictures when we were little, taking us to see many plays and shows at the theatre,  teaching me and showing me how to grow flowers, veggies and pumpkins your weekly check ins to tell me what to do next with my seeds and how to plant them. I will miss your special stew that Dad and I loved, your quick to hang up phone calls, and  gardening advice. I am so grateful that baby Snooks as you nicknamed her  was able to know her Great Grandma Marie. Love you and miss you forever 🩷

My Dearest Hammies, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your sweet Mom. I have the best memories of having tea on the porch with her in Penwick and leaning across the fence for a convo.  You guys were part of a very special neighborhood growing up for me and I'll never forget our memories like doing the MDS Carnivals and playing in the parks together.  Visiting the cottage was always so much fun. You guys were the  best neighbours ever. She will live on in my heart and in my dreams. I love you Marmie, sweet dreams.
