Gail passed away peacefully at home on Monday January 2, 2023 with her husband and best friend of 65 years, Ron, by her side.
Gail was born in Windsor, Ontario to Robert and Margaret (nee Reid) Petch. She is survived by her sister, Ginny Monforton and brother, Jim Petch (Anne). Predeceased by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Walter Karpenko and brother-in-law Dr. Frank Monforton. She was a loving mother to Cathy Krevs (Rado), Peter (Linda), Chris (Chantal) and David (Heather). She was the proud grandmother of Paul (Krista), Mark, Peter, Aline (Tristan), Emma, Daniel, Twila (Jarrett), Annemarie (Peter), Graham, Aubary (Luiz), Kiara, Maine and Erik and great grandmother of Juliana, Michael, Norah, Elyse, Elias, Wynsten, Mateus and Caleb.
Gail chose teaching as a career but quickly moved on to motherhood and then grandmotherhood, taking great joy and pride in each new addition to the growing family.
Gail was a talented artist whose beautiful watercolours adorn the walls of the homes of many family members and friends. She loved to garden, quilt, and read and published a novel.
She and Ron made their homes in Windsor, Toronto, Kingsville, Bobcaygeon and Aurora and spent many happy winters in Naples, Florida.
Special thanks to the amazing palliative team who took care of her in her last days, the wonderful staff at Southlake RHC and especially the caring and compassionate staff at Park Place Aurora.
A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G6W8.
Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady Of Grace Parish, 15347 Yonge St, Aurora, ON L4G1N7.
