He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette (Pat). Predeceased by his brother Paul (survived by his wife Mary Ann) and sister Marie (survived by her husband Gerry). He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many dear friends.
Dad grew up in North Toronto, where he developed a lifelong love of hockey, playing for his beloved St. Mike’s teams. His passion for the game never faded, and he continued playing for most of his life in several old-timer’s leagues, hanging up his skates only at the age of 75.
A lover of sports and the great outdoors, he cherished the time spent enjoying cottage life with family and friends. He especially loved playing golf with his buddies and creating special memories with his grandchildren, teaching them to play badminton and baseball, and enjoying countless hours of fun swimming together in their Thornhill pool. These moments brought him great joy and will forever be treasured by those who shared them with him. And he sure loved his Blue Jays! He had season tickets right from the very beginning in 1977, back when that meant sitting out in the bleachers! We are so thankful that he was lucky enough to cheer on his beloved Jays all the way to the World Series last year. What a special memory to cherish!
He valued volunteering and giving back to his church and community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and could often be found selling tickets, organizing dances and raffles, and supporting community events. A dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus for over 25 years, he proudly served as Grand Knight for four years, demonstrating his commitment to fellowship, service, and helping others. His generosity and dedication to his faith and community touched the lives of many.
Dad was also a dedicated accountant with General Motors, where he devoted more than 28 years of his life. He was lucky to retire early and certainly enjoyed many healthy years with Rena, travelling throughout Canada, Europe and the United States.
