Michael Joseph Powers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Joseph Powers, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, September 29, 2025. Born on August 20, 1947, in Toronto, Ontario, Michael was the beloved son of Stewart and Norma (née MacDonald) Powers.

Michael was the cherished husband of Deanna, his devoted partner in life for 55 years. He was a proud and loving father to Jennifer (Gavin Kelly) and Amy (William Simpson), and was predeceased by his son-in-law Richard Kipling. He was a doting grandfather to Abbey, Dylan, Ava, Cole, and Kayla, who brought him endless joy.

Michael was a dear brother to Nancy (predeceased Charlie), Donna (predeceased Clifford), Marsha (Ron), Norma (predeceased Roger), Peggy (predeceased Joe), and Edith, and was predeceased by his siblings Lois (Ralph), John (Beverly), and Patrick (Darlene). He will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Michael's warmth, wisdom, and humour will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G6W8. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15347 Yonge St, Aurora, ON L4G 1N7. Interment following at St.John Catholic Cemetery, 250 Main St N, Newmarket, ON L3Y 6E1.
