It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Myroslav (Roy) Mocherniak, who passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 95. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He was affectionately known to those who loved him as just “Dido”.
Roy was born on June 4, 1929, in Dobruska, Czechoslovakia and lived a long and full life. He emigrated to Canada at the age of 19 and made a life for himself after the war in Europe. His three great passions in life were his extended family, gardening and cooking. There was nothing he liked better than cooking for the people he loved and sitting back and watching them enjoy his perogies, meat on a stick, cabbage rolls and dumplings. He dearly loved to garden and nurtured a spectacular lawn and garden. He had an amazing memory and was known for the great stories he told about his long and extraordinary life. He was known for his always upbeat personality, tremendous kindness and generosity and sense of humour. Roy was predeceased by his loving wife Mary whom he was married to for 52 years. He will be missed greatly by his 4 sons, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Myroslav will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8 followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 10:00 AM.
