Collinson, Robina May (nee Waggitt) died peacefully in her sleep at the Delmanor Retirement Home in Richmond Hill on Dec.26, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Collinson. Loving mother to Iris (Wayne Foster), and grandmother to James (Sherry), Mike (Geeta) and Donald. Mother to Marilyn (Jim Cartwright), grandmother to Kelli (Dave Hunt), Carl (Kerri). Mother to Ruth (Mike Street), grandmother to Matthew (Amanda) and Jeff. Mother to Gordon Collinson and Steven Collinson and a total of eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Robina was predeceased by her parents and two sisters in England leaving a niece Julia (Mike Bevis) and family.
Robina was a war bride who left her family in England to join her husband in Canada. Fortunately for her she was welcomed with open arms by her husband’s family. She was active in the Yorkview Drive Baptist Church for many years. Upon moving to Oakridges, she joined the Brethren in Christ Church. During her life, Robina devoted many hours to her volunteer work at Treasures, a charity shop in Richmond Hill that supports people with Schizophrenia. While raising her own children, Robina took in babies from the Children’s Aid until they could be found families. So many babies passed through her loving arms.
She was always ready to help others and will be sadly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421 on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 1pm with visitation one hour prior.
Donations to The Scott Mission or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
