Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pam, sisters Jennifer, Laurel and Meridyth (Gavin), nephews Ashton and James, and nieces Julianne and Megan. Scott was predeceased by his parents Jim and Ruth.
Scott was born July 18, 1957 in Weston, Ontario, the only son of Jim and Ruth. He grew up on Scarlett Road with his older sisters Jennifer and Laurel and his younger sister Meridyth. Summer holidays were spent at Bilton’s Camp on Chiblow Lake, cottages on Round Lake and Sand Lake and beside the family’s backyard pool. Scott played in The Optimist Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps for a number of years and was named Bugler of the Year in 1972. After high school, and a short stint working with his Dad at American Standard, Scott started his exciting and very satisfying 43 year career at IBM (now Kyndryl). Scott met Pam, the love of his life, in 1982 and they have lived in Aurora since 1984.
Scott enjoyed card nights with Pam and friends, weekly golf games with the Tuesday “Duffer’s Cup” Golf Group, and his role as manager/coach and official photographer for his buddies’ hockey team. The annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach and frequent tailgate parties were epic and the source of many of his tall tales. Scott and Pam enjoyed numerous Caribbean cruises, trips to Arizona and Las Vegas and they especially looked forward to their annual European holidays and trips down east to visit Pam’s family. In all, his travels took him to 42 countries. Scott also managed to tackle many challenging home renovation projects of which he was justifiably proud.
Scott was a well-loved member of Pam’s family. Pam’s brother Philip became the brother Scott never had. Scott was extremely grateful for the love and support he received from Philip (Nancy), and from Pam’s sister Evelyn and nieces Susan and Darlene. Scott was also blessed with incredible friends, neighbours and his global IBM family.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the nurses, staff and volunteers at Hospice Vaughan who took such great care of Scott during his final days.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Scott’s memory to Hospice Vaughan or charity of your choice.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life which will be held Sunday, September 18th between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora L4G 6W8.
