Wintah Fresh aka Shawn❄

I had to throw it back to when we first met... my heart breaks at the news but I am replaying the memories, as are many others.

From gr 9 when you and Deighton introduced me to peach schnapps...

Hanging at your house on yonge street and being quarantined there for days...

To the countless 4 way adventures with Kabarungyi and Deighton...

To eating kraft dinner soup at 4am on ridge road having deep talks...

The endless dancing and freestyling with the infamous Wintah, Bones and Ankles...

And the Mulera family adopting us into the Kaba household with our high school crew!!!😂

I sit here to write this letter and the memories are endless from 'back in the day'... and even more recently of chilling at your cottage, beautiful Tayahs first birthday and celebrating with me on my wedding day...

Always handsome and always fresh.

A caring soul, full of laughter and adventures. I am thankful and honored to have know you. 💕

The past few days have hit many hard but we celebrate who you were.

You will be greatly missed.

Praying for Jessie and the entire Irvine family, your beautiful babygirl Tayah and her mother Katherin, our mutual day 1 Kabarungyi and all of the friends who were blessed to know you.🙏🏽

Love you Wintah

I am so thankful to my sister Rungyi and friend Sakina for introducing Shawn to our Sacred Heart friend group and eventually to my family.

I thank his family for loving and accepting all his friends so much. My parents know all about Shawn and Jessie as my sisters dearest friends in high school; and even though my parents were super strict - they somehow let Rungyi go over to visit Shawn and Jessie all the time. 😂

He was our “fave white boy” and best dancer in our family/friend group and his heart was the greatest. I will miss him so much, it really breaks my heart.

My favourite moments with him would definitely be all the times we made fun of Deighton and Vanessa. But one thing that stands out is one time when Shawn and Vanessa stayed up until the morning and broke a chair at my parents house; then acted like it wasn’t them but no one else was awake! 😂😂 I know it was them!!! But I only got over it quickly because Shawn was involved.

I always forgave Shawn for anything because of his amazing heart and soul! I literally couldn’t stay mad at him longer than 3 seconds.

Sometimes in the summer Vanessa and I would roll down our car windows while driving and yell “Shawwwwnnnnn!!!” - just thinking we may randomly bump into him by yelling his name. It was a really random thing we started, but now it has more meaning than ever before. 💕

I will keep you all in my prayers, and our family is here to support you through just as you were there for Rungyi 🙏🏾

Boys day!
