My deepest sympathies to Madge and the family. I spent many days at the Veitch house and always found Mr. Veitch to very patient with us as we could be a bit rambunctious. I also had the privilege of being invited to the trailer and had a great time there with Tony. From my family to yours, our deepest sympathies and condolences on the loss of your husband and father, Paul Sarazin and family.

My fondest memories of Mr. Veitch was at the homestead in Richmond Hill when Tony would bring home some of his friends, me being one of them, for some pool and beverages.  Tom would always acknowledge us being there but as soon as the stereo was turned on it was his cue to leave.  A man of a few words but when he spoke them they were very insightful.  Our thoughts and prayers go to Madge, Scott, David, Derek, and Tony.

I remember Tom as such a lovely, gentle person, with a quick but dry wit.   We first worked together in the early 80's, at 60 Adelaide; I was the Chief of Audit's secretary and he was his "right-hand".  Tom also managed Internal Audit and I had moved to the Scarborough Tax Office as the Director's secretary, so again, we were in the same office.  Tom was always a pleasure to work with.   As a testament to his character, I remember one situation in particular.  Our small group (8 of us) went out for Christmas lunch together; the restaurant served a la carte items but we all had chosen the buffet.  When it came time to pay for everyone, our boss refused to leave a tip, saying that the server had only brought us beverages.  As we all left, I saw Tom linger behind and leave some money on the table.  I always thought that was very gentlemanly...that was Tom.  Wishing you comfort in your wonderful memories.

I started working at Rev Can in 1970.  I had the pleasure of working for Tom for some time.  I was a naive young man of 23.  Tom was a caring professional man whom shaped my career at RC.  I have since retired after 37 years and I have Tom to thank for my attitude to the job.  He taught me to be fair and compassionate.  I am proud to say that he was my boss and my friend.  The world is a lessor place without him.  His family should be very proud. He was a very good man that touched  the lives of anyone who knew him.

This is always such a difficult time on knowing what to do or say.

It is always so painful dealing with the loss of a loved one - a spouse, a parent, a grandparent, a friend.  If we try to ignore the pain, the pain never goes away (trust me, I'm talking from experience).  There will be good days and bad days.  There will be great days and terrible days.  And guys (and I'm talking to the male gender), it is okay to cry, even in front of someone!

When you lose a loved one, there's a huge void left in the middle of the heart.  With time, this void starts to get filled with wonderful memories.  I remember Tom as a quiet, soft spoken man who always had a twinkle in his eye and a smirk on his face.  He could deliver dry humor like no other.  I know that time will fill your voids with lots of wonderful memories.  Too bad we have to go through so much pain first.

Take advantage of having such a wonderful family.  Give lots and lots of hugs!!!!

As Bev's sister, I have spent many holidays with the Veitch family.  I always have a smile on my face thinking of Tom and his layed back personality.  He would sit back and smirk, always looking asthough he wasn't paying attention and then would slide a comment in here and there - always witty.
Although I can't say I knew him really well.... he always seemed to be enjoying himself - a content man of few words.  I will miss him on my visits to the Toronto area but I know he will still be there looking over us smirking and coming up with some witty remarks from above.  I wish I could be there to celebrate his life with the family...
