Anne Dooling Murray, 96, was born on January 1, 1923 in Milford, Connecticut. She was the second born of five siblings in her family. She graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT and went to work at Chance Vought Aircraft Company following high school.
It was at Chance Vought where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Ken Murray. They were married on June 29, 1946 in Bridgeport Connecticut. Ken and Anne relocated to Texas in 1948, shortly after the birth of their first son, as a result of a company transfer. They settled in Dallas where they raised their family and welcomed their only daughter and second son. Following the move to Dallas, Anne continued to work at LTV (formally Chance Vought Aircraft) for ten years.
Anne later returned to work in 1967 at the Army Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas and continued to work there for twenty-five years. Anne later relocated to Austin with her husband in 1989, where she spent the last thirty years of her life enjoying retirement. Ken and Anne enjoyed many happy weekends at their lake house at Cedar Creek Lake, outside of Dallas. Years after the loss of her husband, Anne met a wonderful man, Harry Edwards, who was her friend and travel companion until his passing. She loved him and his family dearly.
Anne was a faithful parishioner of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church for more than 30 years.
Anne is survived by her brother, Dennis Dooling, of Bridgeport, Connecticut and her three children and their spouses, Ken Murray (Virginia) of Island Lake, IL, Kathy Hamilton (Bill) of Austin, TX, and Kevin Murray (Roxanne) of Cedar Hill, TX. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Catherine Murray of Belleville, MI, Richard Murray of Ann Arbor, MI, Meagan Murray-Tenuta (Alex) of Lake Forest, IL, Erin Hamilton Jansen (Michael) of New York, NY, and Julie Hamilton of Austin, TX. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her good friend and neighbor, Paula Campbell, who drove Anne to church for many years and friend, Yesinia Hernandez, a frequent dinner companion. Anne is also survived by her good friends and devoted caretakers, Dora Calkins and Paula Grana from Visiting Angels, who were both a great help to her. The family would also like to express its appreciation to the many Pals at Belmont Village who so devotedly and lovingly cared for Anne in her final days and supported her family.
