

Abel Ross Zamora was born in Austin, Texas on September 4, 1955 to Rosauro Zamora and Pauline Ledesma. Abel lived 70 years and passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He lived a life defined by hard work, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his wife and family. He was known to most as Big A or Big Dog. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing sports. He was an avid basketball and baseball player.
Abel met Bette Jo Herrera in Austin, Texas and they were married for 50 years. They had two children, Alicia and Tito. His love remains eternal in the hearts of his family and his legacy will continue through the generations he nurtured and guided.
Abel was a strong, dependable, and loyal man. His wife and family were the center of his world. He was an excellent father, devoted husband, and loyal friend. Abel was always willing to offer his time to help anyone in need.
He was a dedicated, hard-working man. He built a respected career as a professional truck driver for over forty years. He loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to work on his 18-wheeler.
During his retirement, Abel made it a point to regularly meet up with friends and family for breakfast and lunch. He loved hanging out with them, dishing out his classic dad jokes and repeating his favorite jokes over and over.
Abel is preceded in death by his father, Rosauro Zamora, his mother, Pauline Ledesma, and his brother, Anthony Zamora.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Bette Jo Zamora, his loving children, Alicia Michelle Zamora, Tito Zamora (Michelle), his grandchildren, Andrew R. Zamora, Rudy T. Zamora, Julius T. Zamora, Angel R. Zamora, and Nate T. Zamora, his sisters, Belinda Gonzales (Piro), Celina Zamora (Fernando), and his brother, Fabian Zamora. Abel will also be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
His life will be honored at a viewing service at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress, Austin, Texas, on June 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor John officiating. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend. The family wishes to thank everyone for all the prayers, kindness, and expressions of love shown during this difficult time. Abel will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
