

Dan was born on March 12, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas but eventually moved to Austin with his family where he graduated from Travis High School, enlisted in the Navy, married and raised a family. Later in life, Dan moved back to San Antonio where he pursued his passion for Texas history. His true legacy lies in the countless hours he spent researching the Battle of Medina along with his book “Tejano Roots”. Dan’s commitment to honoring Tejano veterans and the support for his community was his greatest joy. He will be dearly missed by not only his family, but his extended family and friends.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Nancy Arellano Panter, and her husband Todd, his granddaughters, Sydney Panter Wilson, Shelby Panter and Sloane Panter, and his siblings, Linda (Tony) Govea, Benny (Bertha) Arellano, Susie (Ruben) Barrera, and Paula Cantu. Dan is predeceased by his parents, Gregoria and Seferino Arellano, and his two brothers, Rudy Arellano and Cruz Arellano.
A memorial service to celebrate Dan Arellano will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2PM, Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731.
