Adele Marie Webb

She was born in Calhoun County, MS, on August 17, 1935, to Jesse W. and Martha (Mattie) E. Colley. She graduated in 1953 from Ellard High School, where she was valedictorian and Homecoming Queen. She attended Miller-Hawkins Business College in Memphis, TN, and worked for Jones-Beal Inc. cotton brokerage. On September 30, 1954, she married Johnnie Paul Webb in Bruce, MS. During his Air Force career, they lived in Austin, TX; the Azores Islands; Suitland, MD; and Anchorage, AK. After his retirement they returned to Austin, where she served for more than 25 years with the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked for several years at Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Hancock Center. She was a longtime member of Decker United Methodist Church.

Her husband, her parents, and her sister, Ada Celeste Colley, preceded her in death.

She is survived by sons John Webb of San Antonio; Edward Webb of Austin; Mark Webb and wife, Laura, of Bastrop; daughters Kay Mayfield and husband, Mark, of Ottawa, Canada, and Elise Odell and husband, Stewart, of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 4, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Decker United Methodist Cemetery.
