As Adolph planned for his move from our neighborhood, he disbursed of some of his home furnishings.  My daughter acquired several items and we think of Adolph fondly when we use them.  He was a good neighbor with who we enjoyed visiting.  

Adolph Kremel

I met Adolph through his friend, Ruben Johnson, on my first visit to Austin in 1955, and we have been close friends ever since. Since the very first day I met Adolph, he always preferred I call him “AD” or “Addie,” and I always did.  

In 1959, I moved to Europe and when I returned to the U.S. in 1965, I flew directly to Austin at Ruben’s request, spent my entire stay with Ruben and AD and really got to know them well, and I soon considered them to be my closest friends. In 1967, I bought a ranch in Carmel Valley, California, to raise Thoroughbred race horses. Since the central coast of California was everyone’s favorite vacation resort, Ruben and AD soon became regulars here, as well, spending most of their vacation times at our ranch every year. When Ruben passed away in 2007, AD became a regular at all of my parties, and he was well loved and respected by all those he made contact with. In 2019, AD brought his wife, Laurel, along with him for my birthday celebration in Palm Springs, but unfortunately, the Covid pandemic has prevented us from visiting each other since that time. 

Luckily for me, however, I decided to call AD on FaceTime only a couple of days before his passing. I found him in the hospital and in good spirits, although he complained that his condition was going on too long. But I did not detect any finality in his voice or demeanor and we decided to call each other again the following week. Then when Laurel called me a couple of days later, I was shocked to hear of his passing.

I can only say that AD was one of the kindest, sincerest, best loved people I had ever met, and I doubt that I will ever meet another person who would become a better friend than AD. May God bless his soul and keep him at eternal peace.

Someone gave a contribution in the memory of Adolph to the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, Texas. This is how I discovered Adolph Kremel had passed away in January 2022.  I remember Adolph from his visits with the late Ruben Johnson to the ranch of the late Most Rev. Louis J. Reicher, First Bishop of Austin in the early eighties. Several times I was at the ranch visiting my late aunt, Sr. Martina Krenek, O.P., the late Sr. Marie Therese Morotto O.P., and the late Bishop Reicher on the weekends. I enjoyed some nice meals and conversations with all of these nice people.  Adolph was a nice and spiritual man. He seemed to be a person always in deep thought. I know Sr. Martina loved and respected him along with Sr. Marie Therese. I know Adolph grieved when he lost his friend and former boss, the late Ruben Johnson. Both of them, when they were together, reminded me of "Batman and Robin!" Adolph was a good man and was always friendly and nice to me.  All of these wonderful people are no longer with us, but they have gone to the Lord and their eternal life.  May Adolph rest in peace and let perpetual light shine upon him. Adolph was my neighbor in Ashley Oaks. I thought he was a dear and kind man.  After he moved, we would touch base every month or two. Time went by quickly and I realized it had been a couple of months since we had last spoken. I tried texting, calling and Facebook messaging but I was too late.  He had passed on my birthday and it saddens me that I didn’t have a chance to say goodby or attend his funeral Mass.  My dearest condolences to his wife, son and extended family.  Karma McKinsey

Adolph and I were friends for more than 35 years.  I have never met a kinder, more compassionate individual...always happy to give a helping hand.  May his family take comfort in his memory.
