Al Rockne Leissner, 83, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Smithville, Texas. He was born on September 16, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas to Albert Lewis Leissner and Nona Smith Leissner. Al graduated from Austin High School in 1949 and worked for the Texas Education Agency and later on at the University of Texas at Austin.
Al enjoyed his pipe, buying and selling land, and racing pigeons. He always had a smile on his face and will be forever in our hearts.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charlie Leissner; niece, Jessica Schroeder; and nephew, Gus Leissner. He will be sadly missed by his loving sister, Winona Schroeder; niece, Shelby Eskew; nephews, Gerry Schroeder, Jeff Leissner, and Stan Leissner; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be at 12:30 P.M., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with The Honorable Benton Eskew officiating. Interment will follow the services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
Honoring Al as pallbearers will be Benton Eskew, Joshua Eskew, Dennis Newell, Allan Kelley, Claude Hempel, Gerry Schroeder, and David Risher.
