Alejandro Cortez Rico (Alex) March 25,1976-June 20,2020 Of Austin TX

Our Beloved Alex Cortez of 44 years was called home by our Heavenly Father on June 20, 2020 leaving his wife of 19 years and his family with lots of beautiful and wonderful memories of him.

Alex Cortez is survived by his wife, Jennifer A Cortez; two sons, Alek Logan Cortez, Fabian Dominick Cortez; mother, Maria Rico; father, Carlos Juarez Cortez; two sisters, Hortencia Claudia Cortez-Rico and husband Victor V. Trevino, Nancey Cortez-Rico; four brothers, Carlos Alberto Cortez-Rico, Oscar Cortez-Rico, Ricardo Gabriel Cortez-Rico, Eduardo Steve Cortez-Rico; six godchildren.

Alex was a wonderful and loving husband, father, son and brother. He worked hard all his life to be a strong provider for his family which continued throughout his battle with cancer in 2011. A year later in 2012 he became a cancer survivor. His family was the most important part of his life and he always put them first. He enjoyed grilling on the weekends for his family and friends. He loved to work on the yard, chile garden and his truck on his free time. He enjoyed his vacations, laughing and joking with family and friends. He loved each and everyone of his godchildren and enjoyed making them laugh and at times getting them into some trouble.

to my Sister and Nephews - Words just are NOT enough - hearing the sadness in my sister voice because the LOVE of HER life has entered THE KINGDOM was not easy. Jennifer you are a SURVIVOR and you are STRONG! I pray that GOD heals your hearts and that you carry on the MEMORIES. to my Nephews I LOVE YOU and I am here for you!

Alex has been part of my life for so long- he and my sister were HS sweethearts. He was a funny guy, who looked shy but definitely was not. He was very much a joker. He loved his family and did EVERYTHING for his family! He LOVED and he LIVED FAMILY! He is Uncle and Godfather to my daughter, he had a way with kids- they spent hours playing together when we visited. He was often the cook when we visited - HE could COOK some delicious FOOD- Never disappointed and man his sweet tea!

We LOVE you Bother-in- Law!

YOU will be MISSED- but NEVER forgotten.
LOVE YOU! Debra and Family
