Alice Heinen Bohn passed away April 9, 2005. She was born December 17, 1904 in New Braunfels, Texas. She attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton, Texas majoring in voice and piano. Alice lived in Austin after her marriage to Herbert Bohn. Together in 1938 they designed and built a landmark art deco home on West 29th Street which became the site of many wonderful parties. She lived in her home until her death at the age of 100. An accomplished pianist and singer, her love of music led to a long and active participation in the Wednesday Morning Music Club of which she was a former president and recipient of the most distinguished service award. She was also a member of the Womens Symphony League, Austin Womans Club, Austin Lyric Opera Guild, Austin Womens Forum, and Art Group VI. She belonged to St. Martins Lutheran Church and served as a Stephen Minister many years. In the last few years of her life she wrote a book entitled Of This I Sing to pass on to all her present family and to the future generations. She was a lovely and gracious lady who was loved by everyone. Alice lost her beloved husband, Herbert, in 1967. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Colleen and Doyle Moore of Austin, Lynne and Skip Bohn of Dallas and Gay and Bob Bohn of Saratoga, California; nine grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren and devoted caregiver, Jane Powell. The family wishes to thank Hospice and all the doctors and caregivers for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13th at St. Martins Lutheran Church, 606 W. 15th Street.
