Alice Elaine Collie Parkhouse passed away peacefully at home in Austin, TX on August 30, 2024, surrounded by her husband, children and beloved dogs. Alice, named for her pioneering West Texas grandmother, was born in Houston, TX on June 26, 1951 to Robert M. and Betty Repp Collie. Following her graduation from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969 she attended the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. After graduating in 1973 with a degree in business, she returned to Houston where she enjoyed a successful career in sales, eventually becoming the No. 1 area sales representative for Xerox. She married her husband, Bill Parkhouse, in 1979 and shortly thereafter moved to London, England, where they made many lifelong friends and welcomed the birth of their children, Kate and Will. In 1988, they moved back to Texas and settled in Austin, making their home in the Westlake community. Alice continued her sales career, ultimately serving as general manager for Kitsune Contract Furniture and later starting her own business, Parkhouse Contract Interiors.
Renowned for her style, cooking and entertaining, Alice was also an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis, golf, biking, hiking, snow skiing and more. Alice and Bill eventually acquired a second home in Keystone, CO where they could pursue their love for the outdoors. Over the years, Keystone has served as a special place to gather with friends and family. Alice is survived by her husband Bill Parkhouse, daughter Kate Coultas (husband Todd), son Will Parkhouse (wife Angie), and four grandchildren, Madeline Coultas, Lily Coultas, Liam Parkhouse and Finley Parkhouse. She greatly adored each of her grandchildren. Her sister Julie Ennis (husband Don), brother Bob Collie (wife Barbara), brother-in-law Don Parkhouse (wife Mary), sister-in-law Colby Rost, and numerous nephews also survive her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church with a celebration of life planned in Keystone at a future date.
