Aliya Louise Angeline Rosegreen of Austin, Texas passed away on May 13th 2022 at the age of 45. She was born on April 2nd 1977 at Seton hospital in Austin, Texas where she grew up, a proud 5th generation South Austinite. Aliya graduated from Crockett High School in 1995 with a career in acting in mind. She received a partial theater scholarship to St. Edward's University where she attended for 2 years, always involved in theater productions there. Aliya was an accomplished actress with a talent for accents, taking on impressive projects like Lily Tomlin's one woman stage show 'The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe" and performed as two different characters in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" just last summer at the Bastrop Opera House. She worked for an iconic children's activity center for 11 years becoming the manager of several locations while also taking courses in early childhood development. After leaving she became a full-time Nanny and was deeply loved by the families that employed her. She was blessed to be the caregiver, teacher and playmate to their precious children and loved every minute. She was an avid player of board games and she loved Doctor Who and Star Trek. Henna was a spiritual practice for her and her art designs on her feet and hands were always beautiful. In everything she did Aliya was generous, kind, smart and funny in an absolutely dazzling way; drawing attention and giving off light like a star.
In a live interview Aliya says "live music means more to me than I can actually say." At the age of 17 she was drawn to the music and continued to support her favorite bands and musicians for the rest of her life. She dressed in her sparkly clothes, always wearing a tiara and offering you a star when passing the tip jar for many of South Austin musicians. Long time friends have these little stars sprinkled across their lives in constellations on mirrors, door frames and dashboards. She was the Enthusiasm Coordinator for quite a few bands, bringing the bling, dancing like no one was watching and making sure everyone knew it was time to have some fun. All for the love of live music!
Aliya's own family was the most important to her. She was devoted to her 102-year-old paw paw, MW Caldwell, and visited him almost daily, there was so much love between them. Aliya was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Bernice Peterman Caldwell, her paternal grandparents Robert and Dallas Howell, and her step-grandmother Ruth Howell. She is survived by her father Emmett Mitchell, mother Sharon Caldwell Howell, her sister Alycia Howell, brother Dallas Howell, her maternal grandfather Malcolm Caldwell, and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her family would like to thank Chester Eitze for his beautiful words and for being the director and friend she respected and loved, as well as David Grissom, Shelly King and Carolyn Wonderland for the beautiful music she loved so much. Thank you to all of her music family for loving and accepting her, too many to name. Thank you to her childhood friends who knew her by her given name Adrienne Howell. Thank you to the pall bearers Matthew Giles Nathan Powers, Donovan Steen, Chris Peterman, Ali Eldrasi, Dallas Howell, Duncan Harris and Richard Smith.
To honor Aliya please support live music and musicians any way you can.
