

Allen W. Wright is the seventh child born to Osborn and Annie Wright on June 4, 1931, in Shenandoah, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brother, two sisters, and one granddaughter. They are Orlando Wright, Venice Jackson, William Wright, Osborn Wright, Richard Wright, and Gertrude Leaks, Leona granddaughter He graduated from Murray Hill Vocation School in New York City as a printer. Joined the United States Air Force, in 1950 and was a radar operator and air traffic controller. In 1952 he married his childhood sweetheart and friend Christine Jackson. He is survived by three children Ernestine Jones, in Wilkes Barrie PA, Tyrone Wright, in Silver City, NM, and Michael Wright, Austin, TX, four grandchildren, several great grand children, and a host of nieces and nephews. Allen served twenty-one years in the USAF, and retired from Bergstrom AFB, Texas, as a Master Sergeant. Allen was a self made man who enjoyed life, do-it yourself books and vocational trades. After retiring from the USAF he worked helping low income people prepare their income tax. He worked for UPS as a delivery driver. He became maintance man with Couples Pipe Fitting. Allen returned to school and attended Capital City Trade School in Austin, TX. receiving his license as master in Air Conditioning/Heating and Refrigeration. He went into business for himself as Wright’s Refrigeration. He was a school bus driver for Austin Independent School District, driving elementary kids routes only, making sure the very young ones made it to school safe and on time. He retired from AISD and went on to volunteer as a van driver for the VA. He enjoyed attending high school and Lady Longhorns sporting and athletic events. He was always going to a game somewhere. His favorite hobby was breeding, training, and racing homing pigeons. A member of the Austin Pigeon Club. You could call him the birdman, and he would reply with a big smile and bright eyes. A funeral service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 16th of April at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be conducted at nine o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 19th of April at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1502 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Texas.
