She attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1947 with a BS degree in home economics and nutrition. Alma was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and was also elected Sweet Heart of the Navy. Her joys included spending time with her family and her animals; playing her piano and traveling to Europe and to New Mexico. She was an accomplished musician and vocalist carrying on a musical tradition that was started by her mother, Alma Street, who played Violin in the Austin symphony. Alma is survived by two children: Bonnie McDaniel (Richard); Randy Pitts (Sharon); three grandchildren: Brent Pitts (Meagan), Harper Pitts and Rebecca McDaniel: one great-grandson: Braxton; a sister: Florence Sanders, nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband and high school sweet heart George David Luedecke. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 19th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20th at Austin Memorial Park on Hancock Dr. Contributions in her name may be made to the Town Lake Animal Shelter http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/health/animalservices.htm or to a charity of your choice.
