

Ambra Reedy was born on January 11, 1920, Nixon, Texas, and passed away October 31, 2010 in Austin. She was 90 years old.
Ambra was the daughter of Lettye Burris Hester and Clyde Hester. She grew up in Luling and Seguin and graduated from Luling High School. She received an associate’s degree in music from Texas Lutheran University and was a singer all her life until the day of her death.
Ambra was very active for many years at Hyde Park United Methodist Church and served in all lay leadership roles. At the time of her death, she was an active resident of Westminster Manor Retirement Home.
Ambra was a homemaker and businesswoman in Austin for many years. Along with other family members, she built Mayton’s Minimax and Lamar Village Center.
Ambra was preceded in death by her 1st husband, William Monroe Mayton, her 2nd husband, Garland V. Reedy, her Mother, Lettye Hester and her sister, Clydie Brodt.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Mayton and daughter, Prabhu Prakash Khalsa (Sherry Mayton) and son-in law, Christ Singh Khalsa, both of Austin. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Erin Mayton Taylor and husband Josh Taylor of Silver Spring, Maryland, Laura Mayton of Austin and Amrit Khalsa of Austin and William Grant Taylor of Silver Spring, Maryland, her only great grandson. She is also survived by her 5 beloved nieces and a large extended family in Seguin.
Ambra was the heart and soul of a very loving family and countless friends, and she will be sorely missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Visitation will be at Weed-Corley-Fish on North Lamar, 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Austin, 901 Trinity Street, at 11:30 on Saturday, November 6. Burial will be at Capital Gardens/Pflugerville immediately following the service.
