Amelia Ann Torrans, 86, of Austin, formerly of Tyler, died on December 12, 2008. She was born on November 14, 1922 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to William F. Carter and Alice D. Sanders. Amelia graduated from Tyler High School. She was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and worked as a Micro Paleontologist for Shell Oil Company. After Amelia and Claude were married, they made Tyler their home for many years, where they had many dear friends. Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Torrans. She is survived by her brother William F. Carter; sister-in-law Bette G. Carter; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas.
