Andrew Romero Franco passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Andrew was born November 11, 1982, in San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area until 2011 when he moved to Austin, TX. While in the Bay Area, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from San Francisco State, enjoyed scuba diving, and was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. In Austin, he met his wife, Laura, in 2013. They married in 2015 and had two beautiful children together, Archie (5) and Samantha (2). During this time, Andrew also returned to school at Austin Community College to become a registered radiologic technologist and continued on to get his CT registration. He worked as a CT Technologist at many hospitals in the area and was highly respected for his dedication and hard work and was loved for his personality and the care that he showed to the patients and his coworkers.
Andrew, above all, was devoted to his family. Described by his son as “silly,” “fun,” and “loving,” he was always coming up with playful, creative activities for the kids and starting fun family traditions. Andrew also shared his love of gardening with them, involving them in every step of the process – planting seeds, tending to them, picking the fruits or flowers. Andrew also loved to tinker and as such, like with his garden, put his heart into his house, doing many projects, again involving the children as much as he could. Whether it was helping to hammer in fence boards, change out baseboards, or replace air filters, Archie and Samantha loved helping Daddy fix up the house. He also enjoyed cooking and, according to his son, made the very best steak. Andrew was also a devoted husband. He was kind and loving, his wife’s “partner in weird,” and he gave the absolute best big bear hugs. He supported her quirks, would always give her the last cookie, and was there for her through many very difficult times.
Andrew was known for his big heart. He would go out of his way to help people in both small and big ways. Whether it was bringing food to a friend, giving them one of those big, genuine bear hugs, or picking up a shift when someone was in need, he was there for his friends.
Andrew will be deeply missed by his wife, Laura Dugan; his children, Archie and Samantha Franco; his mother, Tapasi Franco; his sister, Lisette Cozzolino; his niece and two nephews, Isabella, Mathew, and Isaiah Cozzolino; his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his many many friends.
Given Andrew's love of and care for children, in lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to donate to the Austin Child Guidance Center.
