

Born June 30th, 1948 in Tulsa Oklahoma, to James Morton Chance and Ruth Hand Chance, she attended Thomas Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma University in 1970.
Anita studied French at OU and became a fluent speaker. She lived and worked in Paris in her twenties where she met lifelong friends. She taught French and opened her Texas home to many foreign exchange students.
Anita will be especially remembered for her cheery hospitality and warm greetings. She loved to cook and host feasts for her family and friends.
Later in life, Anita worked on a number of independent films in Austin and learned to become a script supervisor.
Anita adored her children and took a lot of pride in their accomplishments.
Survivors include daughter Caitlin Chance Dilling of Dallas, TX, daughter and son-in-law, Cara and Zach Kettler, granddaughter Evelyn Rose Kettler of Dallas, TX; sister Marilyn Lane of Texarkana, TX; nieces and nephews, April and Rick Wegman of Fort Worth TX, Crisney Lane of Austin TX, and Alan and Brittany Lane of Austin TX. Anita was preceded in death by her parents James Morton Chance and Ruth Hand Chance and her niece Melanie Lane Long.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00pm for visitation at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78705.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, January 3rd followed by a celebration of her life. Relatives and friends are welcome at Green Pastures, 811 W. Live Oak Austin, TX 78704 on Saturday, January 3rd at 11:30am for services and a life celebration.
