

Ann was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, John Oakes, brothers Tom Tischler, John Tischler and Charles Tischler, nieces Laurelin Mullins, Tammy Tischler, Stacie Tischler, Genevieve Breeds and Gaylan Wykes, nephews Andrew Tischler, Travis Tischler and Randall Hyatt, great nieces Lindsey Moore, Phoebe Breeds and Grace Elizabeth Lavoie and great nephews Keith Sammon, Davis Mullins, Joseph Breeds and Brandon James Lavoie.
Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Sims Tischler, her father Henry Tischler, DVM, and her nephew Joshua Tischler.
Ann was a graduate of Austin Community College. She was a passionate art enthusiast and loved painting with watercolors. Ann loved the outdoors and all of it's wild creatures, trees and plants. She especially loved their home, Sans Souci (No Worries), in Tow near the shores of Lake Buchanan and the great variety of birds and wildlife they shared it with.
Ann was an avid swimmer and loved the water. She spent many days with her husband John enjoying Lake Buchanan and the incredibly beautiful Colorado River upstream. Ann enjoyed vacations to the Colorado mountains, Hawaii, Jamaica, the Northern California coast and many other U.S. States. Cajun Country in Southern Louisiana was one of her favorite places and she attended many festivals there. She loved her big rescue dogs Duke, Leo and Elkie, which weigh over 300lbs combined. She was a beautiful, passionate, creative and generous person known for her keen intellect, open hearted honesty and wicked sense of humor. She is deeply loved and bitterly missed.
A memorial service and celebration of Ann's life is scheduled for 2:00pm Friday, July 7th at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd in Austin.
