

Anna Laura Porter, 89, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2015. Anna was born July 22, 1925 in Lynnville, Tennessee to Lucille and Wilburn Crunk. Anna met her husband, Robert L. Porter Jr., while working in Nashville, Tennessee. They married in 1946. After starting their married life in Nashville they moved to Houston, before eventually settling in Austin in 1958 where they raised their two daughters.
Anna enjoyed volunteering for Austin Ballet Society (Ballet Austin) and helping out at Pease Elementary during her daughters early years. She was a Life Elder and longtime member of University Christian Church. Anna Laura worked for over 20 years with the City of Austin Electrical Department, where she was always ready to carry on a conversation. She was an avid gardener and loved caring for her plants. In her retirement years, she traveled with friends and enjoyed volunteering with Seton Medical Center Auxiliary. Anna volunteered in the Seton Gift Shop and knitted blankets and caps for the newborns at the hospital.
She is survived by her daughters; Suzanne White (husband Paul) of Austin and Debi Eger (husband Jim) of Irving. Survivors also include grandson, Keith White (wife April) and granddaughter Melissa McClure (husband Kyle), and her precious great grandchildren Price, Jaxson, Avery and Kendall.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Porter Jr, and her brother, Joe Crunk.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Orlinda, Tennessee.
