Annette Fairweather Alvord

Annette Fairweather Alvord Annette Fairweather Alvord died on October 5th 2007. Annette was born on April 6th 1911 in Hartford Connecticut. She resided in Nichols, Ct. for 57 years before moving to Austin. She was a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY majoring in dietetics. Annette was a member of the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport, Ct. and The First Presbyterian Church in Austin. She was a member of the Women’s Guild and a charter member of the former mothers’ club of United Church. She was a lifelong member of the Housatonic Council of the Girl Scouts of America, and a member of the Girl Scout Old Timers Association. Annette was a member of The Connecticut Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Elder Brewster Society and Past Regent of the Mary Silliman Chapter, NSDAR. She was also a member of the AARP, the Trumbull Historical Society, and the Nichols Improvement Association. Annette, widow of Maurice C. Alvord, is survived by her children: Patricia Rhodes, Richard and Carol Alvord, and Virginia Lee Alvord; her grandchildren: Scott Rhodes, Susan and Brian Anthony, Rick and Kelly Alvord, and Joelle Alvord; and her great grandchildren: George, Ray, and Brooke Anthony; Megan and Jack Alvord; and Trevor Alvord Brock. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Agard, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Annette was predeceased by two sisters: her twin, Jennette Townsend, and Betty Essex; and two brothers: Douglas and Myles Fairweather. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, October 10th at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of The First Presbyterian Church of Austin at 8001 Mesa Drive, Rev. Sam Riccobene officiating. Burial and graveside services will be at the Nichols Farms Burial Ground in Trumbull, Ct. in the future.
