She met her husband, Theron in 1941 in Beaumont Texas. They moved to Austin in 1950 where they raised their family and lived happily for the remainder of their lives. She became a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in 1951 where she was an active member in the Church's Women’s Organization and sang in the choir for many years before suffering two strokes. The second of which forced her to learn to speak and read again at the age of 85. At the time of her death at the age of 89, she was reading her seventh Louie Lamoure novel in a period of only a few months. Annette was an inspiration to many whose life she touched and along with an indominatable will, she possessed a beautiful spirit which allowed her to see the best in all people and a kind and nurturing heart which will be sorely missed by all who are fortunate enough to have known her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Marinas Anderson, her mother, Lilly Cook Anderson, her sister, Pauline Krenzke, husband of 55 years, Theron D. Carroll, and most recently her daughter, Patricia Carroll Gladden.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Von Ramm, and her son, Theron Richard Carroll; two granddaughters, Miki Lynn Carroll and Hayli Carroll McKnight; a great-grandson, Hayden Phillip McKnight.
Funeral services will be conducted at half past two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th of August 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4001 Speedway, Austin with Rev. Sidney Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
