On September 17, 2023, Arlene Barbara “Nanny” Penberg, 84 of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully with her beloved husband, Gene Penberg at her side along with their four children, Gene, Dan, Mike, Terri and surrounded by numerous grandchildren.
Arlene and Gene married in 1959 in Scranton, PA before moving to Binghamton, NY where all four children were born. In 1980 they moved to Austin, Texas, which they have called home for more than forty years.
Arlene, the youngest of three children, was born on November 28, 1938, to Joseph and Lucille Matuszek in Scranton, PA. She is predeceased in death by her parents and her two sisters, Dorothy, and Cynthia.
She is survived by her husband Gene, her four children, Gene (Debora), Dan (Julia), Mike (Kim), Terri (Lenny), and her cat Cleo. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Stephen, Kristen (Pete), Adam, Rachel (Tyler), Ryan (Cloey), Justin (Courtney), Jeremy, Bailey, Logan, Drew, and Chase. She also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren, Avery, Layne, Karsyn, Austyn, and Brooks.
